Whilst rooted in formalist abstraction, his works utilize a diverse range of materials and explores mark-making techniques that echo structures, patterns and surfaces found in both domestic and urban environments.
For the Royal Scottish Academy’s Annual Exhibition, Cox is presenting paintings from his recent pattern painting series that involve the appropriation and alteration of domestic wallpaper patterns. To date, works from this series have been exhibited at Marignana Arte in Venice, Italy, and Galerie Jerome Pauchant in Paris, France.
