The painting UMBRA examines dynamic shadows cast by railway bridges onto the concrete surface below. I am particularly interested in the way in which the strong sunlight transforms this banal urban intersection of rail and road infrastructures. It emphasises their separate axes and hints at the noise and velocity of those transport modes, observed in a still and silent moment.

This piece is typical of my current practice, focusing the viewer’s attention on the interplay of light with the structure and treating other elements of the composition in a more abstract way.
