The artist: "[On 'In Conversation With The Stars'] I am not usually influenced by other artists work, but on one occasion I was drawn to a particular painting by Paul Delvaux from the National Galleries of Scotland’s collection entitled “Call of The Night” I immediately related to this particular painting because of the similarities in subject matter to that of my own work, the female nude and the use of leaves.
In her conversation to the stars, she is laying bare her private feelings and the stars
are celebrating this.
'Words Unspoken, Words Unsaid' is a drawing on a large wooden “frame” surrounding a maller drawing on paper behind glass. This allows the frame to be part of the picture. The central male figure in this work is unable to “speak” and can only convey his personal thoughts and feelings using a symbolic language, tattooed on his body. Words are often in a language which is difficult to understand. He is also using the cables behind him to “speak” electronically.
