Morgan Dunbar is a Contemporary Artist working in Aberdeen, specialising in printmaking with a focus on various etching techniques, examining and appreciating the process through soft tonal works and a nostalgic aesthetic.
Her practice delves deeply into the complex interplay of attachment and emotion, the inspiration of developmental psychology is present throughout the body of work; processing the complexities of childhood and how one transitions into adulthood. Examining the nature of relationships with others, and the human emotional response to surrogating what we lack in life with the inanimate, and the transference of key archetypes into objects, which become the “other” and gain intrinsic value beyond their material build.
Currently, the work produced focuses directly on weaving personal conflicts into artistic expression, using the artwork as a form of self-reflection, processing through life occurrences, resulting in the artwork taking the form of the surrogate/other.
