In this work, the figure emerges from a muted field of tones, suspended in the quiet weight of the studio’s ambient light. Rendered in a restrained monochrome palette the painting draws attention to the slow materiality of paint itself, its drag, its capacity to both conceal and reveal. The figure is not posed but witnessed, the light seeps gently not to illuminate but to linger. Here solitude is not loneliness but a state of clarity, a communication between the figure, space and medium.
