“The Quiet of Unseen Light” explores the transient relationship between urban waterways, shifting environments, and the fragile sense of place. The fragmented collage layers depict a water surface before sunrise, blending elements of industrial docks, drifting vessels, and abstract natural forms. This visual dissonance echoes the tension between stability and movement, like a floating dock is both a temporary, stable shelter and constantly shifting with its surroundings.
This work reflects on how spaces of transition, like docks, become metaphors for belonging and impermanence. The scattered textures of water and rock suggest erosion, change, and the passage of time, while the ship's presence alludes to human intervention within natural landscapes. By emphasising fragmentation and fluidity, the piece invites viewers to consider how identity and boundaries are shaped by evolving environments.
