This façade section model forms part of the RNLI Lifeboat Station within The Lost Boys: It's OK to Cry project, designed to draw soft, diffused light through its translucent skin. PolyJet-printed façade panels act as a tidal membrane, filtering daylight while responding to the changing coastal atmosphere. As the outer layer gradually erodes into the sea, the lifeboat vessel remains cantilevered from the memorial structure, held in a suspended state between loss and rescue. The model combines a steel structural frame composed of plasma-cut components with digitally fabricated translucent elements, revealing the building's layered construction. Integrated Wave Energy Floaters harness tidal movement to generate power, extending and contracting in response to wave forces. Together, these systems frame the façade as a living coastal apparatus, where light, energy, and structure are choreographed by the rhythms of the sea.
