Derrick Guild RSA

Derrick Guild's paintings and objects reference the European still life paintings of the 15^th-19^th centuries. The drama, allegory and naturalism inherent in this period of painting speak to Guild of ever-present dilemmas of the human condition. His works are classical, formal and at the same time contemporary in their sense of dislocation and ambiguity.

Guild was born in Perth in 1963 and from 1982-86 he studied Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee. Upon graduating he carried out a further year completing his Postgraduate Diploma.
