The stones in this carved sculpture, gathered with the permission of Atholl Estates, come from Glen Tilt near Blairgowrie. It was there in 1785 that James Hutton found granite veins intruded into older strata - thus proving to the geological world that granite was a younger rock and not the oldest strata on planet Earth as hitherto had been assumed.
