LINKSHOUSE ARTISTS RESIDENCY CENTRE ORKNEY for PIER ARTS CENTRE The work presents an unbuilt project through its various provisional representations as new material traditions are developed: the use of existing indigenous flagstone from the site draws on the long history of stone building on the Orkney Isles. The project adopts 'new traditional' methods to maintain its relevance in an extended cultural dialogue. The nature of the project funding and the complexity of stakeholder groups presents potential risk which simultaneously requires a robust design proposition, and the requisite fluidity to adapt to changing project parameters.
