The connection of my work entitled "GAZA" to an important social issue
I believe that at times of conflict it is the duty of artists to express the horrors of war. The works of Picasso and Goya are notable examples in this respect. My painting ‘Gaza’ has been created in this tradition. "Gaza" aims to capture the utter horror and despair experienced by a man holding the dead body of his loved one. Although "Gaza" was done from my imagination and aimed to portray suffering in the conflict in Gaza in 2025, it expresses the suffering experienced by civilians from the violence and devastation of war in a manner that is also universal and timeless.
To emphasise emotion in my painting, I have used simple colours and brushstrokes and avoided inconsequential details that would have distracted from the depth of feeling that I want to capture. This is most important. - the artist
