Louise Gibson

Louise Gibson graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2009. Three years later she relocated her studio to Berlin where she worked for five years. She returned to Scotland in 2017 and currently divides her work between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

As well as completing various public and private commissions, she has also been represented at both Cologne and Zurich art fairs. In previous years she has been represented by Die Kunst Agentin (Cologne) and The Albemarle Gallery (London). She has worked as a curator and has also accomplished residencies with companies working in the production and development of composite materials. She has participated in numerous group shows including the 56th Venice Biennale satellite shows The fall of the Rebel Angels, and Transmuted worlds Glasgow International. 

Recently she was commissioned by Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop and the Henry Moore Foundation to make a body of new work for exhibition. The outcome of this being an extensive solo show of monumental sculpture programmed for The Edinburgh Art Festival 2025. Last year Louise worked with renowned Poet and Author Jenni Fagen on an Art and poetry collaboration. This resulted in a small publication with an additional limited-edition series of Hard backs. This year Gibson Is one of four Artists who have been shortlisted to develop a concept proposal for ‘Spirit of the Spark’ a monument to commemorate the life and work of Dame Muriel Spark. The memorial, scheduled for 2027 will be permanently sited in Edinburgh's Princess Street Gardens.
