Cavan Reed-O'Connor

Cavan Reed-O’Connor is based in Perthshire and graduated from Gray’s School of Art in 2024. He is the recipient of the RSA New Contemporaries, David and June Gordon Memorial Trust Award, John Gray Legacy Award, Open Eye Gallery Award, and the Visual Art Scotland Graduate Award.

Cavan’s practice explores the ambiguity and resonance of daily life, emphasising the subtle beauty found in mundane, often overlooked subjects. Working in oil, he isolates fragments of everyday environments, rendered with a delicate yet evocative precision.

Set within a desaturated periphery, a transitory moment is held in suspension. A figure begins to emerge from the far window - faint and partially obscured, hovering on the threshold of presence.

The work encourages viewers to reconsider their perceptions of the environments they encounter, slowing their gaze to reveal the emotional and narrative depth embedded within the seemingly ordinary.
