Nat Walpole

Shaving is a an attempt to capture a small moment at a large scale, a cramping shivering anxiety felt whilst shaving my legs in the shower. I make a lot of work about the body and the experience of being embodied, playing with the queer grotesque to create the kind of tension one finds in moments of intense awareness of embodiment. The piece uses a lot of texture built up from layers of plaster, and painterly mark making alongside graphic lines blending a cartoonish style with a painterly one.
