Alison McWhirter

I painted Pink Nude in a time of isolation while I was recovering from a spinal injury. This experience forced me to change my practice as I was unable to stand at an easel so I found a way of painting on the floor.

I became interested in the history of The Reclining Nude and in this work my aim was to create a feeling of utopia, warmth, luxuriousness and repose. This was very much in contrast to the intense pain I was in at the time.
